  • Are you looking for
    a challenge?

The Youth Leadership Project is for you if you are a youth with a disability between the ages of 16 and 30 looking to develop your leadership potential. Based on the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, this 12 month program will challenge you to set and achieve goals that will help you build skills, while giving back to your community. You will set goals in each of four areas:

    • 1. Volunteering: we’ll help you in locating the right volunteer experience for you
    • 2. Physical Recreation: we’ll assist you in finding an opportunity to improve in an area of sport, dance or physical fitness
    • 3. Learn a new skill: we’ll help you find an opportunity to develop your practical and social skills and personal interests
    • 4. Expedition: near the end of the program you will plan, train for and complete an adventurous journey with your fellow participants

Sound interesting – there’s more! Meet monthly with your Peers to compare notes, hear interesting speakers and meet new friends! For information on how you can get involved – Contact Kellie Kirkwood at 905-684-7111, ext. 225 or email kellie@abilityforlife.ca. The program is open to all youth with disabilities. For youth with developmental disabilities, a referral through DSO Hamilton/Niagara is required-call us to ask how that works.
